Jekyns Pelaez is a versatile artist whose talents span dance, acting, choreography, education, and filmmaking. Hailing from Colombia, Jekyns began his training in Drama and Dance at Bellas Artes and graduated in Classical Dance from the Instituto Colombiano de Ballet. His professional career started with the Ballet de Cali, and he has since performed with renowned companies such as Ballet Arizona, Ohio Ballet, Chautauqua Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Ballet San Jose Silicon Valley, American Conservatory Theatre, Oakland Ballet, Diablo Ballet, San Francisco Opera, and Los Angeles Opera, among many others.
Jekyns’ principal dance repertoire includes iconic works such as Balanchine’s Apollo and Serenade, as well as Romeo and Juliet, Giselle, Swan Lake, Carmen, and The Nutcracker. His theatre credits feature The Man of the Suitcase, The Tosca Project, and No Exit, while his film appearances include Love Hurts and Being the Ricardos. In opera, Jekyns has performed in La Traviata, Aida, Carmen, Simon Boccanegra, and Eugene Onegin at prestigious venues like the San Francisco Opera and Los Angeles Opera.
